About the Blog

Hi!  I’m Cheryce.

If you want to live with hope, desire to belong, yet long for something greater, this blog is for you.

When I was fourteen, my English teacher loved a poem I wrote called, “I Will Stand”.  It was about a sapling being uprooted and replanted in unfamiliar ground, which is how I felt after moving a few states east just before starting high school.  That life-changing move, as well as three more during my teen years, stirred in me a desire to belong.

It also opened my eyes to those who are sometimes overlooked, misunderstood, or lonely.  Since then, I’ve spent years working with and loving children, teens, the elderly, and refugees.  I see in many of them a yearning to belong–to someone, somewhere, now.

Because of what God has done for me, with the huge support of a loving husband, sons, parents, and friends– I feel I have the gift of helping others to belong.

I’m also learning what it means to long for a more permanent sense of belonging, one that isn’t affected by the uprooting that life brings.  I’ve discovered this only comes through knowing Jesus.  The more I know Christ, the more I long for Him and think about belonging with Him one day for eternity.  I want others to long for Jesus, too.

I think that by sharing stories about belonging and longing, you and I both will find hope.

It’s how to live well now while at the same time preparing for eternity.

Hope and Be.Longing.  To others.  For Christ.

Come read some of the stories I’ve discovered.
